Log Cabins

Simple to Build - Windproof Design
Building your Finnlife log cabin using our well-illustrated, step-by-step plans (supplied with each cabin) to guide you through every stage of construction is simple and straightforward. The result is a professional-looking job that you'll be proud to call your own.

The diagrams shown on the right are intended to give you a feel as to how simple these cabins are to build.

However, you should refer to supplied instructions before assembly. No problem if you don't have the time or the inclination to do the job yourself; our team of experts could do the job for you!

Fine Materials

Your cabin components are precision-cut from top quality Scandinavian softwood for a perfect fit, first time. The timber comes from well-managed forests where indigenous wildlife and forest industries co-exist and where the rate of tree-planting exceeds the rate of harvesting.

Different cabins feature different log thicknesses. Thicker logs provide bigger cabins with additional strength, insulation, and resilience to cope with extended year-round use.

End profile may also vary - please check specific model.

Windproof Design

Another feature of your Finnlife log cabin is the ingenious way that wall logs interlock for strength and windproofing. The upper and lower faces of wall logs come with deep tongue-and-groove joints for a tight windproof joint. At the corners, alternate layers of wall logs link via a wind-block timber engineering system that builds into a solid, windproof wall.
Helsinki, Lovisa, Ikkuna, Virka, Pori, Kaskinen, Lahti, Rauma, Teeri, Suoja, Kemi, Metso, Tampere, Meri and Valko use components from range A.

Talo, Kesa, Riekko, Kulma, Koppelo, Mokki, Jarvi and Hytti use components from range B.

Underfloor Heating.

The Allbrite underfloor heating option fo your Finnforest cabin includes the heat mats, thermostat and floor insulation. You will need to provide your own choice of floor covering. This could be laminate, carpet or vinyl. In some instances you may also need to provide an additional insulation layer between the heating ribbons and floor covering. Full details and instructions are included.
Further details can be found at the manufacturers website; www.allbriteuk.co.uk
The flat ribbon underfloor heating has many features and benefits for you the end user.
Fits under all floor products
The flat ribbon underfloor heating system fits on ANY subfloor and under ANY floor covering as a primary heat source (no need for radiators), because the flat ribbon system fits under all floor products you don't need to learn about 2 or more different heating systems.
Height differences
The flat ribbon underfloor heating elements are only 1.8mm in depth making it the most slimline heating source on the market.
High floor coverage
With the flat ribbons being wider and closer together than any other system you are guaranteed a more even spread of heat with no hot or cold spots. With the heating elements achieving such a massive floor coverage it heats up quicker than any other form of underfloor heating.
Easy to install
The flat ribbon underfloor heating system is very easy to install upto the point of connecting the thermostat where an "Part P Qualified" electrician will be needed. As mentioned before there is no need for any sub floor preparation other than ensuring it is flat and free from dust and debris.
Cost Effective
Because the flat ribbon underfloor heating system does not rely on heating up your subfloor and only needs to heat up your flooring product, this means that the power required is far less than that of other underfloor heating systems.
Highly Controllable
Incorporating the highly advanced thermostat means that the underfloor heating is optomised to give you the best control features

General

Treatment:
A non-toxic spirit based treatment (spirit-based for summerhouses) is applied to each building after manufacture. This is for protection during transit and storage.

We recommend that new buildings are treated both during and after assembly, using a quality spirit-based (spirit-based for summerhouses) timber treatment such as Cuprinol or Sadolin. This should be reapplied annually thereafter.

Assembly and Base Preparation:
Full assembly instructions are supplied with each building and at least two people are required for assembly.

It is important that buildings are situated on a flat, solid base such as paving slabs or concrete, Tanilised fence posts (75mm x 75mm) are also recommended for use as bearers to elevate the floor from any drainage or standing water when the building is situated on tarmac or concrete.
